What you need before you start
Launching WordPress is mostly a matter of putting four pieces together: a hosting plan, WordPress itself, a domain name, and an SSL certificate so the site loads over HTTPS. You need a domain you control — bought from any registrar such as GoDaddy, Hostinger, BigRock or Namecheap — and about an hour. You do not need to know how servers work.
This guide uses Cloud Ninza as the worked example because every step below is something the dashboard actually does, but the order of steps is the same on any good managed WordPress host.
- A domain name you can manage (any registrar)
- An email address and phone number for your account
- Your logo, text and a few images, if you have them
- About an hour, most of it waiting for DNS
Step 1 — Choose the right WordPress plan
WordPress needs PHP, a MySQL-compatible database and enough storage for media. Managed WordPress plans bundle all three. On Cloud Ninza the Starter plan (₹1,188 a year) hosts 1 website with 3 GB of NVMe storage, Growth (₹2,388) gives 8 GB, Business (₹3,588) gives 2 websites and 15 GB, and Pro (₹4,188) gives 5 websites and 25 GB. Prices are before GST, and longer terms save more: 2 years save 5%, 3 years save 10%, 4 years save 15% and 5 years save 20%.
A brochure site or blog fits comfortably on Starter. A WooCommerce store with hundreds of product images, or several sites for one business, belongs on Business or Pro. You can move to a bigger plan later from the dashboard and pay only the difference for the remaining days.
Step 2 — Create your account and order
Sign up at cloudninza.com with your name, email and mobile number, and confirm your email with the 6-digit code. Then open Create an app. The page works like a cloud console: choose the location, the blueprint (WordPress), the plan, the term and your domain. Tick “Install WordPress for me” so WordPress is installed on your domain as part of setup.
If you were referred by an existing customer, type their referral code in the coupon box for a discount on your first purchase. Pay by UPI, card or net banking through Razorpay. You receive a GST invoice, and your account, website and WordPress are set up automatically after payment — the details arrive by email and appear in your dashboard.
Step 3 — Point your domain to the server
Your site now exists on the server, but the internet does not know where your domain lives yet. Open Domains in the dashboard: it shows your server's IP address and the exact records to add. At the company that manages your domain's DNS, add an A record for @ and another for www, both pointing to that IP, and delete any other A or AAAA records for those names — parking pages from the registrar are the usual culprit.
Changes usually take effect within minutes and occasionally a few hours. The Domains page has a live check — “DNS right now” — so you can see the moment your domain points here instead of guessing. Using Cloudflare? Proxied records are fine; set SSL/TLS to Full (strict) once your certificate is issued.
Step 4 — Free SSL, automatically
Every website needs HTTPS: browsers warn visitors away from sites without it, and search engines prefer secure pages. On Cloud Ninza a free certificate is issued automatically for your domain and www as soon as they point to the server, and renewed automatically before it expires. The first certificate also switches the site to HTTPS-only, so visitors typing http:// are sent to the secure version.
If a name cannot get a certificate yet — www still pointing at an old host, for example — the Domains page tells you which name is waiting and why, in plain words, and keeps trying. Nothing else is blocked while it waits.
Step 5 — Sign in to WordPress and build
Click Open WordPress admin on your project. You land straight in the WordPress dashboard, signed in, with no password screen — the link is single-use and expires in two minutes. From there, choose a theme under Appearance, add pages (Home, About, Services, Contact), set your site title and tagline under Settings → General, and choose a permalink structure such as “Post name” under Settings → Permalinks.
Keep plugins lean: a page builder or block theme, an SEO plugin, a contact form, and a caching or image-optimisation plugin cover most sites. Every plugin is code that must be updated, so add them because you need them, not because a list said so.
Step 6 — Make it fast and safe
Speed and security mostly come from good habits. Use the latest PHP version your plugins support — you can switch between PHP 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 per site on the Domains page. Compress images before upload. Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated. Turn on two-step verification for your Cloud Ninza account, and use a strong, unique WordPress admin password.
Set the WordPress admin email (Settings → General) to an inbox you actually read, so you see order, comment and security notices. Then take a backup from the Backups page — it packs your files and database into one archive you can download — before major changes. The server itself is also backed up daily and restored on request.

Common problems and quick fixes
The site shows the old host or a parking page: an old A record or AAAA record is still published — remove it. SSL is “waiting”: one of the names does not point here yet; the Domains page names it. The WordPress admin opens the website instead of the dashboard: the domain still points to your previous host. Emails from WordPress are not arriving: add the SPF and DKIM records shown under Domains → Email from this website, so Gmail and Outlook trust mail from your site.
